About Us:

The International Test Pilot School provides educational programmes for test pilots and flight test

engineers. The school operates a varied fleet of airplanes and helicopters out its facility at London

International Airport in Ontario, Canada. The ITPS team is comprised of international experts in fixed

wing and rotary wing flight testing. ITPS has a requirement for a Rotary Wing Flight Test Engineer to join the team and participate in flight test and instructional duties.

About the occupation:

Working in a closely integrated team to provide contracted flight test services;

Provide ground school lectures on a relevant subject;

Provide data analysis tutorials;

Participate in internal projects to modify ITPS’s growing fleet of test aircraft;

Provide airborne instruction;

Instruct and mentor student test pilots and flights test engineers;

Occasional traveling abroad required to support company projects.  


Phd/MSc in Aerospace Engineering;

Meet the requirements of an EASA CAT 1 Lead Flight Test Engineer.

Meet the requirements of a Canadian Class 3 Medical and are fit for flying duties

10 + years’ experience in rotary-wing developmental, certification and flight testing;

Preference will be given to applicants that are/have:

Canadian citizens

Graduate of a Test Pilot School

Previous instructional experience

Experience in civil certification, avionics, weapons testing and/or fly-by-wire

Flight Test Engineer and Project Pilot

Terrafugia is a fast-paced, energetic company that is developing the world’s first practical flying car. WE are currently looking for a world-class Flight Test Engineer and Project Pilot to join our vehicle development team. Candidates should be self-starters who bring positive attitude, integrity, and enthusiasm to our team as we transform personal transportation.

As a Key Contributor You Will fly the world’s first practical flying car, as well as plan and conduct tests, and fly chase for test flights.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

Test Engineer Responsibilities:

Provide technical support for aircraft development and certification flight tests.

Prepare flight test cards, brief and conduct test flights and document test results. 

Flight Test Plans, and sections of Pilot Operating Handbook.  

Maintain liaison between Engineering, Quality Assurance and Flight Test Departments.

Attend design reviews related to flight operations

Provide SME and writing input for customer training syllabus and training materials

Project Pilot Responsibilities

Chase pilot (training provided)

Conduct customer demonstration flights in the Transition

Deliver aircraft to customers and marketing events

Conduct production acceptance testing (training provided)

Maintain pilot currency.  Terrafugia will provide the opportunity for maintaining currency and training for project flying.

Required Skills and Experience

Requires an undergraduate degree in engineering with experience related to test engineering

Familiarity with the FAA certification process for Light Sport Aircraft and CFR Part 23 or Part 25 regulations

A Commercial Pilot certificate is required with FAA Class II physical

For exceptionally qualified candidates, Terrafugia will provide the Commercial Pilot training and certification

Outstanding organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills

Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum of four years of experience performing flight tests related to one or more of the following areas: Aerodynamics, Stability and Control, Performance Analysis, Avionics, Mechanical or Powerplant Systems.

Experience with flight test data reduction methods, aircraft operations, data acquisition systems and flight test related safety devices.

Experience designing General Aviation aircraft systems

Experience maintaining General Aviation aircraft

Your responsibilities:
• Develop and implement flight test instrumentation equipment on the aircraft (strain gauges, thermocouples,
accelerometers and a variety of other electrical components/sensors as well as data
recording and telemetry equipment)
• Manage the onboard ground station software and instrumentation configuration
• Support pre- and post-test briefings as well as ground and flight tests in accordance with established
test plans and procedures
• Focus on a safe and efficient conduction of ground and flight tests
• Ensure sensor calibration/data accuracy and validity of data
• Temporary assignment overseas in support of flight test campaigns
Your qualifications:
• Minimum of three years working experience in instrumentation and/or electronics engineering
• Experience with harness builds, connector pin-outs, crimping, sensor and cable installations
• Desirably working experience in flight test instrumentation
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Experience in troubleshooting of hard and software systems
• Good team player skills, self-driven attitude and a great communicator
• Aviation Experience highly desired (knowledge of EASA Part 21 J&G and CS27 is an advantage)
• Good English language skills, both verbal and in writing, a working knowledge of the German language
will be an advantage
