The Antelope Valley Chapter of the Society of Flight Test Engineers will be hosting a Technical Talk and Social on August 8th at Bravery Brewing in Lancaster, CA. The time is 6-8 pm.
Bob Kempel will talk about his involvement in The Controlled Impact Demonstration Program. Here is a short synopsis:
"In late 1984 NASA's Flight Research Center (FRC), at Edwards, flew a remotely piloted Boeing 720 transport in a Controlled Impact Demonstration (CID) test onto Rogers Dry Lake. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the sponsoring agency, the primary objective was to demonstrate, in its first flight-test, the effectiveness of anitmisting kerosene (AMK) fuel for crash-survivability by reducing post-crash fire."
