1981 XV-15 Flight Test Team
The XV-15 Flight Test Team was the 1981 Kelly Johnson Award recipient for outstanding achievement in the field of flight test engineering.
The following is the original text from the nomination of the XV-15 Flight Test Team by D. J. Lackey, President of the North Texas Chapter of the Society of Flight Test Engineers to the Kelly Johnson Award Committee, 10th August 1981:
The North Texas Chapter of the SFTE wishes to nominate the XV-15 Flight Test Team for the 1981 Kelly Johnson Award. The XV-15 has recently participated in the Paris Air Show, and was, by general consensus, the most outstanding participant of the year.
Enclosed is the general information submitted with a previous nomination (1980), supplemented by articles dealing with the 1981 Air Show and future plans for XV-15 development
The success to date of this extraordinary aircraft is due, in large part, to the skills and dedication of the Flight Test personnel working with this program. We feel the honor associated with this prestigious award is richly deserved by these engineers and appreciate their consideration.
